The Riviera Maya is a great diving hot-spot. And many of the six million divers around the world come here, often more than once, to experience it. So here at Ocean Breeze Akumal, we've teamed up with an expert dive center to be able to offer you dive vacation packages. You benefit from the exclusive deals on dives, courses, and rental equipment and you get to stay in a great vacation rental during your stay. As well, we can add in additional, non-diving tours, airport transfers and more to our dive vacation packages customized for you.
Simply put the Riviera Maya has the best diving in Mexico.
First of all, we have direct access to the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef. The largest barrier reef outside of Australia. Which National Geographic describes as more remarkable than the Great Barrier Reef. So, your dive vacation package has to include some reef diving.
Second, the ocean currents on the Caribbean coast are tranquil. And the coral reef provides added protection. So, the crystal clear, azure water of the Caribbean provides idyllic diving conditions. Plus, on average it is 10F warmer on the Riviera Maya coast than the Pacific coast of Mexico. So instead of diving in heavy wet or dry suits, sometimes only a rash guard is needed.
There are dazzling arrays of coral formations to explore. Far more impressive than the coral formations you can see while snorkeling. These support more than 65 species of stony coral, 350 species of mollusk, and more than 500 species of fish. Including sea turtles, whale sharks, bull sharks, nurse sharks, and the largest population of manatees in the world. Along the shores, mangroves provide a habitat for fish and shorebirds. Also, the mangroves protect coastal areas from damage from strong storms. Making scuba diving here a remarkable experience.
With 6,000 cenotes, the Riviera Maya is the best place in the world for cavern and cave diving. And on the odd occasion, the weather in the ocean isn’t great, that’s when you do the cenote diving in your dive vacation package. Because diving conditions in a cenote are unaffected by the weather.
And we have a great diving infrastructure with many PADI qualified Dive Masters. Who can guide or assist you in the planning and execution of dives. For example, the Akumal Dive Center, established in 1975, is the oldest Riviera Maya scuba diving center. Since 1975 they have overseen and guided well over a million dives! They are our exclusive dive partner.
"Friendly, knowledgeable, helpful staff. Quick, comfortable boats. Good gear. Training with experienced instructors. Always reliable." - Don M
And don’t forget you are in the heart of the Riviera Maya. We have spectacular white sand beaches and glorious cenotes to relax in. As well as great restaurants, beach bars, and beach clubs to hang out in and relax. And on the days you need to decompress before traveling you can take a Mayan Ruin tour and soak up some history. That is if you’re tired of the beach!
The Riviera Maya is Mexico’s #1 vacation destination. It is serviced by Cancun International airport which has direct flights from over 100 cities around the world. Making it easy and convenient to travel here.
The #1 attraction of the Riviera Maya are the spectacular white sand beaches, and the warm crystal-clear Caribbean ocean. With 100 km of coastline, there are many stunning beaches. And with fabulous weather and a warm tropical climate all-year-round, there’s plenty of opportunities to go to the beach!
"Absolutely one of the best places I have stayed while on a Diving trip in the 10 years! The accommodations are "top notch" and very modern. The location is perfect for the area and the pool and jacuzzi at the condominium are beautiful and relaxing. Also, having a Washer/Dryer in the unit is exceptionally convenient. Also, you will have all the information you need for a smooth check-in, as almost all questions are answered before you even arrive. And, if you have any questions, the are immediately answered by either the owner or the very helpful staff. I will ABSOLUTELY be staying here again!" Tony April 2022
Yet, with 25 million visitors a year, there’s much more to the Riviera Maya than just the beaches. So, when you’re not diving, there’s plenty of things to do. Including adventure and theme parks, festivals, cenotes, Mayan ruins, great shopping, and restaurants. And you can play golf, go big game fishing, ziplining at night time, watch turtles hatching, or go to a dinner show. If you want more water activities there’s stand-up paddle boarding, kite surfing, windsurfing, and parasailing too. Or there’s relaxing in a hammock, or on a sunbed for an afternoon siesta.
At Ocean Breeze Akumal we want you to have a remarkable vacation experience. So our diving vacation packages are customized for you. Whether you want to do one dive during your stay, or as many dives as possible. Or if you want to take a PADI certified course you can. Either learn how to dive, or take a course to increase your technical diving abilities.
The type of dive vacation package is customized to your needs and interests. All your dives and courses will be conducted and coordinated by the Akumal Dive Center. They are the oldest and most established dive center in the area and have conducted over 1 million dives.
Ocean Breeze Akumal is located within a few minutes of the Akumal Dive Center, in the secure Sirenis community. Our 2-bedroom vacation apartments are a home away from home experience. "Great condo! Well kept, clean and well stocked with things you will need. Balcony is great for your morning coffee and quiet start to your day. Mark is a Phenomenal host and makes your stay relaxing. Would definitely stay here again." Sandy
The building has a very nice pool and a rooftop terrace with jacuzzi hot tubs. The view from here is fabulous. A great place for a siesta in one of the hammocks. To the east is the Caribbean ocean – great for sunrises. And to the west, you have great sunsets over the Mayan jungle. As well there is a bbq in the palapa at the pool for guests to use. And there are 2 communal bicycles available for guests as well. Sirenis is a nice, very safe, community to walk, ride, or jog around.
The local beach, Playa Xaac is only 400 m away. And about a 10 min walk away is a beautiful secluded inlet/lagoon, which is great for snorkeling. There is a convenience store about a 10-15 mins walk from here (or a 3-minute bike ride).
Transportation to the dive center on dive days is included. And vehicle parking is available. Don't forget to ask about the non diving activities you can add to your trip to make it a vacation of a lifetime. For example, in apartment massage and spar services, snorkeling with whale sharks, guided Mayan ruin tours, big game fishing charters, and street art walking tours.
